Wladyslaw Pawelec (1923-2004) pioneered erotic photography in Poland. Albums: "Privat-Special Collection" published by DMK Verlag, Nurnberg, Germany (1983), "Friends of Zofia" published by Melrose Publishing Company, USA, "Pawelec-HQ Series" published by Artman Club, Tokyo, Japan (1991), "Erotica" published by Triton Ventures S. A., Warsaw, Poland (1997), "Nude Photography" (in Polish "Fotografia Aktu") - printed by Videograf II, Katowice, Poland. Pawelec' s erotic calendar published in 200 000 copies in 1983 has changed the way in which erotic photography is being perceived in communist Poland. Pictures from the first one-man show of erotic photography in Poland. In 1974, Wladyslaw Pawelec (lives and works in Warsaw) showed his "Monika" collection at the Old Gallery of the Union of Polish Art Photographers in Warsaw. The exhibition was a blockbuster. Pawelec on his pictures:"...I find it fascinating to be able to transfer the very private and subtly coded feelings of my models to the photographic emulsion. It's a demanding task, but also a very rewarding one." |
